Chopped Italian Hoagie
A classic Italian hoagie is built by layering thinly sliced cured meats such as salami, mortadella, and capicola on a soft, crusty roll. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickled vegetables are added for texture and flavor, while a drizzle of olive oil, vinegar, and seasonings ties the ingredients together. The combination balances savory, tangy, and fresh elements in each bite.
As the sandwich is assembled, the meats and cheese provide richness while the vegetables add crispness and brightness. The bread holds the layers together, creating a portable, well-balanced meal. The preparation emphasizes layering and proportion to showcase the contrasting flavors and textures characteristic of an Italian hoagie.
