fried gnocchi

Air Fried Gnocchi

Shelf-stable gnocchi are tossed with olive oil and simple seasonings before being placed in an air fryer. The circulating hot air crisps the exterior while the interior remains soft and pillowy. Unlike traditional boiling, the air-frying method encourages browning and light blistering on the outside, creating a contrast in texture while preserving the dense, tender character typical of potato gnocchi.

During cooking, the dumplings are shaken or stirred so they brown evenly on all sides. The starch on the surface forms a lightly crisp shell as the gnocchi cook through. Once golden, they can be served plain or finished with grated cheese, herbs, or a dipping sauce. The technique relies on high-heat convection to quickly transform packaged gnocchi into crisp, bite-sized dumplings. These crispy nuggets can be tossed with Buffalo Sauce or served with a side Sauce Rouge.
